will teach visitors not only about the Ho-
locaust, but also about the importance
of working against any type of bullying
or discrimination. As written in the bro-
chure, the mission of the “Anne Frank: A
History for Today” exhibit is to encour-
age visitors to learn about scapegoating,
anti-Semitism, racism, ethnic cleansing,
and genocide, as well as human rights,
democracy and conflict resolution.
WORKING TO IMPROVE THEWORLD
There are 100 volunteer docents who will
lead pre-scheduled, 90-minute tours of
the exhibit, which also includes a short
video. According to Linda, about 99 per-
cent of the volunteer docents are Sun
City Texas residents. The volunteers
were trained by a representative of the
Anne Frank Center USA in New York,
and will lead tour groups every day the
Georgetown Public Library is open.
Most of the tours during the day (9 a.m.
to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday) will
be held for area schools; however, other
groups are invited to schedule tours on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3-6
p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from
1-3:15 p.m. The general public is welcome
to tour the exhibit—which will be in the
upstairs main corridor of the Library—
without a docent at all other times the
library is open. As of press time, more
than 2,000 visitors have been scheduled
to tour the exhibit. (Note: The exhibit is
aimed toward students in 6th grade and
above, due to the graphic nature of some
of the images.)
“So many people today have no knowl-
edge of the Holocaust, or have forgotten
how and why it occurred,” Lenora said
in the press release. “Congregation Ha-
vurah Shalom is bringing this exhibit to
Georgetown to enable visitors to learn
from history and to help combat preju-
dice and hatred in today’s world.”

Marian Kobrin and Linda Schaeffer, co-chairs of the exhibit, and Lenora Hausman, president of the Congregation Havurah
Shalom, have spent months planning, collaborating, and fundraising to bring the traveling exhibit to Georgetown.
