Our Club Championship Tournament took place September
17 and 24, with 72 ladies competing for honors. Participants
were divided into four flights according to their established
handicaps. On the first day, players tackled the Front 9 of
Legacy Hills, while they were challenged with the Back 9 on
the last day. The gross score for the two days was combined to
determine the club champion: Cindy Lane claimed top honors
with a gross score of 91! Winners of each of the flights were
determined by their net score. Capturing first place in the
first flight was Kathy Brandewie; the second flight champion
was Donna Hixson; Glenda Huckins, our President, claimed
the winning place in flight three; and the fourth flight front-
runner was repeat winner, Elaine Carpenter.
On the evening of the final day of play, WGA9 members, golf
professionals, special guests Mr. andMrs. Ron Delaney, and
sponsor, Don Hewlett, attended a Fiesta Awards Dinner and dined on a lavish and
delicious fajita buffet provided by Sally Fournier of Café on the Green. The very next
Monday, September 30, our WGA 9 ladies hosted the WGA 18 gals to a Fun Fest.
Golfers competed in a Mixed-Up Scramble format; this made for an interesting out-
ing! At the conclusion of the event, the WGA 9 treated their guests to a pasta, salad
and dessert buffet coordinated by the WGA 9 social committee.

Continued from page 62
In early December 2012, my wife, Judy,
and I moved into our new home adjacent
to Cowan Creek Golf Club’s 16th green,
and I began re-building my golf game
after 20 years of “2 or 3 times-a-year
golf.” My handicap index dropped 10.7
strokes between February 1, 2013 and
July 1, 2013. I attribute that improve-
ment to three factors:
1. Increased play (four 18-hole rounds
per week, on average),
2. Lessons from Josh Lockhart, and
3. Participation in Marilyn Pagano’s
Tuesday-Thursday
Strength Build-
ing for Golf
classes.
The facts are…
1. I’m hitting the ball further today than
I was in March,
2. I’m playing more consistently due to
improved stamina, and
3. My handicap Index has decreased by
8 strokes since I began participating
in
Strength Building for Golf
!
Kudos to Josh &Marilyn for helping me
improve my golf scores.
