The missions of San Anto-
nio are an important part of Texas history.
Come join us as we explore the Alamo, Mis-

We will begin at the Alamo which is located
in the heart of downtown. The chapel facade is one of the most
photographed in the country. The Alamo was the first mission on
the river and houses the Long Barracks Museum and Library,
which contains relics and memorabilia of the fall of the Alamo.
Lunch will be on your own with several food options close to the
Alamo or, walk two blocks, and dine at one of the fine restaurants
on the Riverwalk. Next we will drive to the Visitor’s Center at
Mission San Jose and enjoy a short filmdepicting life in themis-
sion. Known as the “Queen of theMissions” youwill see original
wall carvings and the “RoseWindow” one of themost noted pieces
of Spanish Colonial ornamentation in the country. Our next stop
will beMissionConcepcion. The church looks essentially as it did
in themid-1700’s as themission’s center of religious activity. You
will enjoy extensive art inside the buildings which are a blend
of Christian, Spanish, and Native art elements.
Note: There will be extensive walking, rain or shine, at
this mostly outdoor event.
