Benini Sculpture Gardens and Cannoli Joe’s
Friday, March 22, $38 pp
Depart The Oaks 10 a.m.; Return 5:30 p.m.
We’ll start our tripwith lunch at the
famous Cannoli Joe’s Italian buffet in Austin,
which is a favorite of Sun Citians. It is a des-
tination in itself, since the atmosphere is so
unlike any other buffet. You’ll feel as though
you’re walking down the street of an Italian village, sampling
the many offerings of the local restaurants – except you may
have all you want of anything! There are so many great choices
of food that you’ll probably want to stay the whole day. We’ll offer
lots of time there, but we do have another stop to make and will
simply have board the bus again so we can go to the wonderful
Benini Sculpture Gardens.
When we visit the Bernini Sculpture Ranch outside of Johnson
City, you’ll be impressed by the scope of the art work. This is
a fine arts project that has evolved into a 14,000 sq. ft. facility
that includes a fine arts library, exhibit galleries featuring forty
years of Bernini paintings and guest Italian artists, as well as
the Sculpture Ranch on the surrounding 140 acres. Our group
will actually sit down inside the gallery andmeet withMr. Ber-
nini. He is very entertaining and interesting, and you will be
delighted listening to him. Even people with no art experience
will enjoy this venue.
Ticket cost includes transportation, admission to the garden,
and lunch.

Spamalot - NEW!
Saturday, March 23, $94 pp
Depart SCPL 12:45 p.m.; Return 5:45 p.m.
The Legend of Camelot – King Arthur,
Lady Guinevere, the Knights of the Round
Table – So you think youknow this story? Come
along for a retelling of this legend that onlyEric
Idle, John Cleeves, and Terry Gilliam, original cast members
of Monty Python’s Flying Circus could tell. Lovingly ripped-off
from their 1975 smash hit “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,”
Spamalot” is a Tony Awardwinningmusical comedy that pokes
fun of pop culture and Broadway shows – both gleefully silly yet
wickedly smart. Along with a bit of risqué humor, you’ll find a
number of scantily clad showgirls, mad cows, killer rabbits, and
French people.
Our story begins inCamelot which resembles the ExcaliburHotel
in Las Vegas and features “The Lady of the Lake and her Laker
Girls” as the headliner. As King Arthur recruits his Knights and
begins his quest for the Holy Grail, meet Sir Bedevere theWise,
Sir Lancelot the Brave, Sir Galahad the Pure, and Sir Robin the
Not-Quite-So-Brave. Join Arthur on his quest for a laugh-’til-
your-sides-ache, razzle-dazzle performance that brings down the
curtain to the familiar sound of clomping coconut shells, rousing
applause and a reminder to always “look on the bright side of life.”
Note: Nomeal included; snacks and drinks available at the Long
Center before the show and during the 20 minute intermission.
Show time - 2 hours.
Ticket cost includes transportation and orchestra seats at the
Long Center.
