UT Blanton Museum Tour with Concert,
lunch at Carillon, & the Harry Ransom Center
Tuesday, February 26, $48 pp
Depart SCPL 10 a.m.; Return 5 p.m.
We’ve gone to the BlantonMuseum
of Art to see special exhibits, but we have never
had a tour and learned about their fabulous
art collection and how the museum came to
be. Enjoy a 50-minute tour with time to roam
about on your own. At noonwewill hear a special 45-minute Bach
Cantata performed by the students of the Butler School of Music.
Next we will feast on a buffet at the elegant CarillonRestaurant.
Enjoy everything from salads, soups, fish, meat dishes and des-
serts – all made by their awardwinning chef. Darkwood interior
withmarble floors will leave you awestruck, and it’s on campus!
Our last stop will be the Ransom Center, which houses one of
the few remaining Gutenberg Bibles and the first photograph
ever taken. After a short introduction by a docent, you are free to
roam. The best part of the Ransom Center is the windows – I’ll
leave it as a surprise!
Note: There will be quite a bit of walking and standing
on this trip, so please wear comfortable shoes and know
your limitations. Deadline to purchase tickets isWednes-
day, February 20.
Ticket cost includes transportation, entrance fees and lunch.

The Lettermen - NEW!
Friday, March 1, $84 pp
Depart SCPL 4 p.m.; Return 8:30 p.m.
Popular singing trio The Letterman
–
Tony Butala, Donovan Tea and Bobby Poyn-
ton – have wowed audiences since the ‘60s and
secured their spot as one of the greatest vocal
groups of all time. Their soft, melodic, and ro-
mantic sound became evident with their chart topping hit “The
Way You Look Tonight” – a clear departure from the rock ‘n’ roll
music of the day. They followed with their next hit, “When I Fall
in Love.” The success of these two songs firmly established The
Lettermen as one of the most romantic singing groups of the
1960’
s. Their signature sound also made romantic standards
of songs such as “Smile,” “Put Your Head On My Shoulder,”
“
Shangri-La,” “Love” andmanymore. They are coming to Austin
and we are headed to One World Theater to hear them.
Prior to the concert we will stop at the Domainwhere youwill be
able to choose from themany restaurants for dinner on your own.
