Texas Stars Hockey at Cedar Park Center
Saturday, January 5, $26 pp
Depart SCPL 6 p.m.; Return 10:45 p.m.
What could be better on a coldwinter night
thanwatching an action-packed hockey game?
The Texas Stars, league affiliate for the Dallas
Stars Hockey Club, were previously coached by
Glen Gulutzan, who became the head coach of
the Dallas Stars in 2011, a testament to the quality of the team.
Texas Stars games are full of great skating and fist throwing!
Our seats will provide a bird’s eye view of all the action. We will
be in the first few rows, section 114, starting at row I. Part of
the fun is watching and listening to the crowd. The Center has
ample food and beverage choices for you to purchase on your own.
Note: There is a short walk from the bus to our seats with
about ten steps to climb. At Cedar Park Center, the seats
are narrow with little leg room. The Center tends to be
cold so bring a jacket and dress warm.
Ticket cost includes transportation and entrance to the game.
Ticket sales close January 2, 2013.

Journey through time exploring
the Civil War, WWI, WWII, and VietnamWar
galleries. The Texas Heritage Museum at Hill

Texans’ personal stories (such as notable Audie
Murphy), showing the crucial roles Texans have played during
wartime. The museum features weapons, medical equipment,
flags and artifacts, and explores WWII life on the front and at
home. American and Vietnamese artifacts include a diorama of
a “tunnel rat” clearing an underground passageway.
Lunch will be on your own with a choice of several restaurants
(
McDonald’s, Arby’s, Dairy Queen, The Blackeyed Pea). After
lunch, we will explore Hillsboro history, driving around the
square with its 1891 Second Empire Courthouse, the Old Rock
Saloon built in 1876, and the oldest working pharmacy in Texas.
After a peek through the “silk stocking” district, we will tour
the Hill County Cell Block Museum and the Roadside America
Museum. Besides housing a collection of Hill County artifacts,
the old jailhouse has housed a couple of very famous jailbirds
–
think Jailhouse Rock and Blue Eyes Cryin’ in the Rain. The
Roadside Americamuseum is a nostalgic trip downmemory lane
with a collection of pedal cars, roadside advertising, jukeboxes
and vending machines, and some classic cars.
