Well, here we are in January. The elections are over. The holi-
days are over. Most of us have probably made resolutions we
have no intention of keeping. So, what do we do with the rest
of the winter? My suggestion: try something new! Maybe it’s
a new club or craft. Perhaps you’d like to work on getting fit.
How about learning to play golf or volunteering for one of the
over 300 available positions here in Sun City Texas? There’s
a lot to do and people to meet.
Did you know there are 45 chartered clubs in Sun City? Plus,
there are several Special Interest Groups (SIGs) here, as well.
The best way to learn about all the wonderful clubs/SIGs is to
go to the SCTX website,
, and click on “Clubs &
Groups.” From there, click on Chartered Clubs (or any of the
others choices that appeal to you) and you will see an entire
listing of all of them. Choose the one that interests you and
start exploring!
If you’re interested in getting fit, don’t forget that we have TWO
excellent fitness centers here in Sun City. Caroline Rosenbaum,
our Fitness Director, has a very fine staff of personal trainers
who are ready to help you with designing a workout program
for your individual physical abilities and fitness goals.
Then there’s golf. With three championship courses fromwhich
to choose and three excellent Pros, you can take up this sport
in no time at all! Our Pros offer group and individual lessons.
Additionally, there is Golf 101. Through the Golf Communicator
you can learn all about the many available options for learn-
ing this wonderful and challenging game. Where else can you
play a sport in such a beautifully groomed environment? Not
getting the Golf Communicator? Then, go into your personal
profile for Sun City and make the necessary changes so you
will receive it via email. If you’re not sure how to do that,
contact the CA Communications Department and someone
will be happy to assist you with making the change.
Then, there are the myriad opportunities for volunteering in
Sun City—and believe me when I tell you that we are always
looking for good men and women to help out! With the 13
advisory committees, COPs (Citizens on Patrol), the Welcome
Station, and lots of other places available, you will never be
bored here! Not sure what you’d like to do? Well, go to the
Sun City Texas homepage at
and click on the
very first tab called “Our Community.” There you will find
