Community Association

According to the Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA), Assistive Technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities.

The purpose of the Assistive Technology Special Interest Group (SIG) is to introduce members to various technology aspects that may help in addressing the quality-of-life degradation caused by hearing loss, eyesight changes, cognitive decline, and similar issues.

Meetings

Meetings are held every fourth Wednesday of the month from 3 to 5pm in the Atrium (January through November).  Our next meeting is planned for Wednesday 05/28/2025 in the Atrium from 3 to 5pm.

Meeting activities include speakers, discussions, and presentations on hearing aids, vision features offered by computer operating systems, Bluetooth, T-loops and Auracast, tactile feedback keyboards, etc.  SIG meetings will also provide opportunities to meet other people who are trying to figure out how to use the technology.
