Outreach

Community Association

The Community Outreach SIG raises wholesome, organic produce for donation to area food banks and charities. For the past eight years, over ONE TON of food was donated each year. Sally Griffith and Leslie Hart help organise the volunteers.

Paul Barry and Margaret Seals started this SIG in 2006, using beds donated for a season at a time. The SIG now has 5 permanent beds as well as donated ones in which to raise the crops. There are two planting seasons: fall (October-March) and summer (March-September).

The Outreach SIG also created a handy booklet "How Does My Garden Grow" which you can purchase from the Horticulture Club.

If you want to know more about organic gardening, join the Outreach Group and learn while you help support others. To add your name to the mailing list, go to My Memberships on your Resident Home page.
