Introduction

My name is Steve Ricks and I am a candidate for re-election to one of the two open positions on your Community Association’s Board of Directors.

My wife Kathy and I moved to Sun City Texas in 2006.  After earning a degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University I had a fulfilling and often challenging career in the Refining and Petrochemical industry.

I am currently completing 15 years of service to our community. I am currently completing a full term as the CA Board Vice President after serving two full terms as Treasurer and prior to that 2 full terms on the P&G committee.  I have also been a continuous member of the community’s water subcommittee since 2009.

Some notable contributions during my time on the Board and the P&G committees would include:

  • Installation of our community’s water wells, the conversion of our common areas irrigation from drinking water to treated water and the development of our strategic planning in these areas
  • Development and adoption of programs that have returned our golf courses and operations to profitability and greatly improved playing conditions and appearance standards
  • Contributed to the management of our community through the 2020 – 2021 COVID crisis and the damage repair from winter storm URI in February 2021
  • Ongoing review and assessment of our community’s use of water and other utilities
  • Managed the process and selection of the new CA Executive Director

Working on these projects and many others has required me to develop working relationships with many people and groups to get the job done. Over this time, I have developed strong working relationships with most of the advisory committees, our Developer, City and County officials, residents, the NRO and especially our CA staff.  I believe that good working relationships are the key to understanding issues, discerning the facts, and finding solutions that are in the best interests of our community.    In short, good working relationships are the key to making informed decisions.

I also believe that informed decisions are only worthwhile when they are put into action.  Physical fitness, for example, is a very worthy objective and certainly an informed decision but it is of little value unless it is acted upon.  I believe I have demonstrated on many occasions over the years the energy and ability to put decisions into actions.

In closing we live in a remarkable community by any measure.  We enjoy a community that has outstanding amenities, is well managed, safe, financially strong and long term secure, and has a fundamentally sound set of rules for us to abide by.  It is the responsibility of your Board to keep it that way.  It is my commitment to the residents of SCT to continue to make informed decisions and take responsible actions on their behalf that are in the best interests of our community now and for its future.

For more information, please read my articles and Q & A’s that will appear in the CA Communicator and on the community bulletin boards during the campaign period.

Thank you for your consideration.  I would appreciate your vote and support.
