EMC  Emergency Response Drill

Thursday, March 13
8 a.m. - Noon

The Sun City Texas Emergency Management Committee (EMC) conducts a community evacuation exercise each year to is to determine how effective our trained volunteers can staff, set up and execute a resident evacuation resulting from a multitude of crises that may occur.

To make the exercise as realistic as possible, resident evacuee volunteers are used to play the role of evacuees requiring medical treatment for injuries, evacuees with pets in need of shelter and residents who simply need shelter for a limited period of time.

Volunteers working at the Social Center Ballroom, Cowan Creek Amenity Center and the Activities Center will be readily identifiable wearing emergency vests of various colors. We ask residents utilizing these facilities during the drill be considerate of the volunteers and defer to them as appropriate to help ensure a successful exercise.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to simulate emergency activities, such as registering evacuees, providing medical aid to residents and helping residents with pets. Volunteers are also needed to help with the physical setup. All volunteers will have a short training session before the drill. Please contact Barbara Akers at [email protected].

Evacuees Needed from 9 - 10:10:30 a.m.
To make this drill as realistic as possible, volunteers are needed on the day of the drill to act as evacuees seeking shelter, evacuees with a pet seeking shelter or injured victims needing first aid. Just go to one of the Evacuation Centers at the Social Center Ballroom, Activity Center or Cowan Creek Amenity Center between 9 – 10:30 a.m. This should only take an hour or less of your time.
