During the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany, members of an American sports broadcasting team find themselves in an unprecedented situation when members of the Israeli Olympic team are taken hostage. Initially set up to cover sporting events, the broadcast crew rapidly shifts gears to provide live coverage of the crisis as it unfolds. Their coverage, which was transmitted to a global audience, marked a major turning point in how live television would treat intense, real-time events.
