Established along the San Antonio River by Spanish explorers, the Missions embody the centuries-long evolution of Texas as a Spanish colony, Mexican state and independent republic. Our first self-guided tour will be Mission San Jose - The Queen of the Missions. This mission complex includes a visitor center, a 20-minute film and gift shop. Next, enjoy lunch on your own at Mi Tierra or La Margarita in the Mercado, the original Mexican Market. Following lunch, we will make a stop to see the world's largest Virgin Mary Mosaic Candle, then it's back on the trail to finish the afternoon with tours of Missions Concepcion, San Juan and Espada. Maps and history of each mission will be provided. Ticket includes transportation, tours, breakfast muffin and juice. Maximum tickets: 46 Volunteer Trip Leader – Jerilee Prather |
