Friendly Reminder: Golf Cart Safety
Can golf carts drive in the left hand lane?

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director,
[email protected]

The question has come up, can golf carts drive in the left hand lane on our four lane roads (Del Webb, SC Blvd., Cool Spring). Here is the answer from the Georgetown Police Department:

(b) An operator of a vehicle on a roadway moving more slowly than the normal speed of other vehicles at the time and place under the existing conditions shall drive in the right-hand lane available for vehicles, or as close as
practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway, unless the operator is:
  1. Passing another vehicle; or
  2. Preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway.

* PD’s interpretation of the law is that golf carts that are not able to go the speed limit for the road should not be in the left lane unless they are passing or preparing to make a left.

Dog Park Coordinator

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director,

To improve our coordination and communications with all matters dealing with the Dog Park, the Property and Grounds Committee, along with the CA and my support, has appointed Frank Feist as the Dog Park Coordinator.

In the short time that Frank has been our main conduit for information between the CA and the Park, he has helped to coordinate improvements to the park, facilitated a Naming Contest and has helped us line up additional park enhancements for this year. Please thank Frank for his efforts and time in making the Dog Park an amenity all dog owners and their dogs can safely enjoy. To contact Frank with issues or concerns dealing with the Dog Park, please email him at

Atmos and Winter Gas Bills

Due to record setting temperatures across Texas the past few weeks, Atmos Energy customers have seen an increase in their natural gas consumption. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, on New Year’s Day more natural gas was consumed than any other day in history. Atmos Energy experienced record demands on our natural gas distribution system as well.

Natural gas remains a great value, however with the extended cold weather in recent weeks, customers can anticipate their natural gas bill will be higher than their bills are the rest of the year.

Atmos Energy wants to remind you that by law we never mark up the cost of natural gas. Our customers pay what we pay. We secure the most competitive prices for natural gas when we purchase gas supplies for storage to be used during these cold spells. The cost of natural gas represents the largest portion of a customer’s winter bill – on average, two-thirds of an overall bill.

For specific questions regarding your natural gas bill, please call us Monday – Friday (8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. CST) at 888-286-6700.
As always, if you smell natural gas please leave the area immediately and call 911 or our 24/7 emergency line 866-322-8667.
