Controlling Feral Hogs in Sun City

Submitted by David Hahn, Director of Facilities Maintenance, [email protected]

imgFor the last few months we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of hog sightings at the golf courses and in the back yards of private residences.
The CA staff have ramped up our trapping and snaring efforts and have set four large pen type traps in these locations. Because of this recent activity I thought a refresher on feral hogs and our control plan might be a good idea. Since our first encounter we have snared two hogs and caught in our traps three more.

RC Modelers Approved to Fly at Berry Creek Park

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

At the December 6 Property and Grounds Committee meeting the RC Modelers Club requested and gained approval to begin flying their electric remote control airplanes at the Berry Creek Park (located at Sun City Blvd. and Ronald Reagan). At this time staff will work with the Club to determine where they can establish a runway for their planes to take off and land. Parking will only be available via the golf cart parking spaces that are currently at the Park.

As a side note, the CA is researching long term possible enhancements to this park area to include enhanced turf, irrigation, parking, restrooms and other community uses. Pulte has agreed to have their engineers study the feasibility of parking at this time. More news to come on the future of this park as it develops.
