50 | SUNRAYS APRIL 2017 and if you have extra or bulky waste
pickup needs, schedule pickups using
the same number. Meanwhile, if you
have extra recyclables, you can put them
in a cardboard box placed next to your
recycle bin on recycle day. Never put any
recyclables in a plastic bag - if you do,
they will end up in the trash!
A complete list of what is and isn’t
recyclable can be found on the Sun City
Recycles website. In the meantime, here
are some suggestions:
– Remove metal lids from glass jars
(no need to remove plastic lids from
plastic containers).
– It is OK if some food or fluid residue
is left in glass, metal or plastic
containers, but try to rinse out any
excessive leftovers. Some stuff is still
sorted by hand, and a quick wash of
your food containers is an easy way
to be considerate.
– “Bag the Bag” is a service that is
uniquely available in our city. Unlike
the rest of Georgetown, we in Sun
City Texas get these yellow bags
FREE! You can pick up two yellow
bags at a time at the monitor’s desks
at Texas Drive or Cowan Creek.
Please follow the instructions when
using them. What goes inside is listed
on the outside of the bag and includes
basically any thin, film-like plastics,
including toilet paper roll wrappers,
bacon packaging, inner plastic seals
from your cottage cheese, rock salt
bags and so forth. Just remember the
following:
– Tie the bags securely when putting
them in your recycle bin and
– Don’t put them in the recycle bins
unless they are completely full.
Once they are totally filled, put
them inside your recycling bin.
