AARP Driver Safety Program
Smart Driver Course

Purchase your $17 ticket online or
at the Member Services Office
The AARP Driver Safety program offers
the nation’s first and largest refresher
course designed specifically for older
drivers.
The program consists of one (1) four-hour
session and costs $17. The course helps
drivers refine existing skills and develop
safe defensive driving techniques. Both
AARP members and non-members may
take the course; however, non-AARP
members must pay an extra $5 at the
door. AARP members must bring their
AARP card to avoid the additional charge.
Upon completion of the course, graduates
MAY receive a discount on their automo-
bile insurance premiums. Please check
with your auto insurance carrier to see
what discount, if any, will apply.
AARP courses do not qualify for ticket
dismissal in Texas unless you have previ-
ously contacted the appropriate court and
received approval to take this course in
place of a defensive driving course.
Remember to bring your driver’s li-
cense, AARP card and the ticket you
purchased at the Member Services
Office or online.

Friends of the Library
The library is closed for book process-
ing from 8:30-11 a.m. on the first and
third Tuesday of each month.
During the month of October, the library
conducted a survey of all materials re-
turned to the library. These books, A/V
and magazines are individually handled
by two or more volunteers during sorting,
shelving, processing and recycling. Previ-
ously labeled books returned: 4,781; previ-
ously labeled A/V returned: 655; materi-
als donated totaled 2,477. Total materials
received by the library in the 32 day count:
7,913. A very busy month!
