our community’s four main dance clubs,
where you can meet other beginners and
learn to dance.
The Ballroom Dance Club
Here you’ll find the most diverse range of
lessons and dances. Club volunteers usu-
ally teach between six and eight classes
per week and offer at least two dances a
month. The six-week dance lessons are
only $5, and include foxtrot, cha-cha,
waltz, Argentine and American tango,
nightclub, rumba, East or West Coast
swings, bolero, mambo and salsa.
Sundancers Square and Round
Dance Club
The Sundancers offer both square and
round dancing, where specific moves are
combined into fixed patterns announced
by a caller. Square dancers learn about
thirty moves, while round dancers
combine steps from nearly every form of
dance into routines that take about six
weeks to perfect. The caller organizes the
moves of each dance, making both genres
easy to learn. Of course, as your skills
develop, things get more complicated –
but that’s part of the fun!
Country Western Dance Club
In this popular style, partners progress
around the dance floor in patterns deter-
mined by the lead dancer. This style of
dance is very similar to the foxtrot, with
the pace and styling adapted to country
western music. Lessons are offered in-
termittently through the Fitness Center
at Texas Drive.
Oldies But Goodies Club
The Oldies But Goodies Club is a new
club that sponsors five dances per year.
