The pies have it!

Our six official judges (non-residents, in the interest Nancy Neihart
of preventing bias) evaluated each pie based on Barbara Scott
appearance, flavor, crust quality and their overall Bonny Hodges
desire for more. The beauty of the pies even Bonnie Duffy
resulted in the addition of an extra award for Best Mary Fink
Presentation! It was a tight race, but in the end, our Claudia Ryner
judges declared five category winners, with Ginny Lydia Pierce
Roberts’ Coconut Cream Pie taking the top award Ginny Roberts
for Best in Show. With over 100 residents attending Jan Havens
the event, we were astonished when the Residents’ Polly Herriott
Choice voting resulted in a dead tie between Mary Sue Loy
Fink’s Strawberry Rhubarb Pie and Polly Herriott’s Lynn Finch
Key Lime Pie with Shortbread and Pecan Crust. Herman Knodel
Congratulations to our winners, and a tremendous Imogene “Jean” Wall
thank you to all our contestants for making this
event, truly, a little slice of Heaven.
