Golf Course Enhancement Project Update

Dear Sun City Texas Residents:
Work continues to progress on the White
Wing and Legacy Hills golf course en-
hancement project. Please remember that
any feedback you have may be submitted
to Gary Wilson, Director of Golf, for dis-
tribution to the Improvement Committee
members. Following is the latest news:
– If you recall, the City of Georgetown
required Sun City Texas to create new
base mapping for the project. I am
pleased to announce that the mapping
was completed at the end of April and
was made available for Sun City and
its consultants to utilize.
– During the last week of April the most
recent designs were transferred over
to the new base mapping for all work
moving forward.
– Since the Town Hall Meeting at the end
of February, in-depth cost estimating
has taken place with several contrac-
tors of various disciplines offering pre- to play golf on a weekly basis with the
liminary pricing.
– Based on cost estimate information
and the prioritization of enhancements
by the Improvement Committee, the
overall design was modified to begin
matching the anticipated budget to the
design. These current drawings are
available for viewing by logging into
the website and clicking Golf at the

– Jason Straka had a three-day visit to
Sun City at the beginning of May. Dur-
ing that time, he worked with mem-
bers of the Improvement Committee to
further refine the designs in a phase
called Design Development. As part of
this phase, each enhanced golf course
feature was refined to an exact size,

shape, angle, etc. Further, members of
the committee spent time on the courses
to field verify information, ensuring the
designs were reflective of the new base
mapping. Once those drawings were
completed, work began to create an
updated cost estimate.
– Once the Design Development plans
and revised cost estimate have been
accepted by the Improvement Commit-
tee, a final Master Plan drawing will
be created for use by Sun City and will

What is the MGA and what can I
expect from my membership?
The MGA of Sun City Texas was
established to offer an organized way
opportunity for tournaments scheduled
throughout the year. By the time you
read this, the MGA will have already
held two of its five major tournaments:
the Spring Member-Member and the Don
Hewlett President’s Cup, boasting over
250 participants in each.
Weekly play-days every Wednesday offer
a variety of golf games for both 9 and 18-
sweeps (pro shop credit) for a $3 entry fee. If you are a golfer new to Sun City or

man teams as well as individuals and are
handicapped so golfers of all levels have
an equal opportunity to win.
Membership is only $20 annually and
includes four quarterly meetings during
the year. The meetings cost $3 and

membership fee back in food and drink.
The MGA has consistently been able to
return more to the members than they
pay in fees.
The MGA has worked hard over the years
to develop a great group of sponsors whose
contributions allow us to subsidize all of
our meetings as well as add $3,000 to
$6,000 to each of our tournaments in
the form of meal subsidies and sweeps
prizes. We encourage all our members to
use these sponsors for any of the business
or professional services they provide.

game of golf, I encourage you to give the
MGA a try. Dues drop to $10 on July 1
and still offer the chance to play in the
three remaining tournaments: the Club
Championship, Fall Member-Member and
the Member-Guest.
