The last 2-3 decades of evolution in American medicine have
produced drama in technology and science, expanded the in-
formation regarding our biology and importantly, enhanced
our knowledge of disorders and diseases that can and do afflict
us. Subtly, this has led to a perverse disconnect: physicians
are pressured to practice reactive medicine rather than proac-
tive wellness care. No one process, system, business practice
or law it seems was responsible. This simply, slowly evolved.
Webster’s definition of physician is “a person skilled in the
art of healing”. Art cannot be managed, legislated or dictated.
Healing and health are likewise not square pegs to be forced
into round holes.

Last year, we at Family Medicine, became MDVIP physicians.
We believe this wellness model recaptures the spirit and art of
slow medicine, as so well presented by Dr. Victoria Sweet at
last year’s Southwestern University’s Brown Symposium on
medicine. Published studies in well-respected journals have
shown that MDVIP physicians have significantly reduced
patient hospitalizations and readmissions, just a couple of
the many benefits to MDVIP patients. Join us to discuss our
MDVIP wellness program and how it benefits patients with
Medicare and traditional insurance coverage.
