The courses were as green as we’ve
ever seen them in mid-June for the
Partner Match Play Tournament, and
we were reminded why the rough is
called “rough.” The rains did hold off
for the most of the three-day tournament
and that was a pleasant and welcome
surprise, although for a few the social
was cut short by a very heavy downpour.
But for the following winners, it did not
dampen their spirits.

Every so often, Sun City golfers have the
opportunity to relive our youthful golfing at the tournament, there appeared a
days. One of those moments happened a
couple of months ago when, at the very
last moment, Sun City was offered the
opportunity to host the Texas State 6A
Boys and Girls Golf Championship,
one of the nation’s premier high school
state championships. In the past, such
golf notables as Hunter Mahan, Jordon
Spieth, Ben Crenshaw, Justin Leonard
and Chad Campbell have won this
prestigious tournament.
The tournament was moved to Sun
City at the last minute due to greens
problems at the original hosting facility. the tournament in April 2016!
But something unexpectedly happened
when the tournament was moved to Sun
City. Instead of galleries consisting of
