Expect driving range closures in July and August

In order to perform some much-needed
maintenance on the White Wing and
Cowan Creek driving ranges, each range
will be shut down for a month between
July and August. White Wing will be
closed from June 29 to July 31 and Cowan
Creek will be closed from August 3 to
September 4. During this time, Sun City
Texas’ other two driving ranges will be
open.
The reasons for the driving range
maintenance is aesthetics and the
longevity of the equipment used to pick
the range. The large ruts that have worn
out over the past years in the driving
ranges cause a lot of wear and tear on the
range picker, causing equipment repairs
and repair costs.

Large ruts on White Wing and Cowan Creek driving ranges have resulted in Playability Items
alternate closures of these ranges during July and August for necessary main- for 2014 and 2015
tenance. The ruts cause damage to the range picker.
The following is a list of completed
items put together by staff and the
Playability Subcommittee in the fall
of 2014.
White Wing

Hole #2

• Remove and replace decomposed
granite (DG) at the blue tee area.

• Place river rocks at the curb
between the blue and green tee.

Hole #5

• Green Tee: Remove and replace
the damaged steps, and rework
entire tee box and re-sod with
Zoysia turf.

Hole #6

• Remove rock walkway and
replace with mulch with a rock
border.

Hole #7

• Place river rocks along the cart
path between #7 green and #8
tee box.
