New players and guests are always wel-
come to play with us. Members play at 8
a. m. Monday through Saturday during
the summer months and at 1 p.m. when
the weather is colder. For guests and
nonmembers we have ball sets and yard-
sticks in the bin alongside the club shack
that may be used at any time. Members
are always ready to teach anyone inter-
ested in learning how to play the game.
April was a good month for high scores.
Bob Lull and Don Webb both rolled
5-point frames; the best score for the
month, however, goes to Stanley Payne
who rolled a rare six points in one frame.
This has happened less than five times
in the last 10 years. It requires that two
balls end up touching the pallino and
the other two be closer than any of the
opponent’s balls. Congrats to all three
players.
A one-day special event was also held
recently and Stanley Payne and Russ
Ruff won all their games.
Bocce Fact of the Month: Game strat-
egies to keep in mind are to roll your
bocce ball closer to the pallino than that
of the opposition, knock the opposition’s
bocce ball out of its position and slam the Country Western Dance
pallino away from the bocce

Monthly dances offer traditional country
western dancing in the ballroom. Dances
have recorded music or a live band. Ice
and water are provided. Please bring your
own beverages and snacks.
Membership is $12 annually and cov-
ers admission to monthly dances with
recorded music. Additional fees may be
charged for special events. Please check
the club website for the club’s schedule
of dances. You may pay club dues on the

by making your check out to SCTXCA and
paying at the Member Services Office.

This club was formed for the purpose of
promoting golf among Sun City Texas
couples who enjoy casual, competitive
golf in a friendly and welcoming envi-
ronment. Playdays are every third Sat-
urday, rotating around the three Sun
City Texas courses. We have three social
events planned for the upcoming season.

In our five-room studio, members cre-
visual beauty. Equipment, tools, glazes,
brushes and clay are sold to members at
cost and dues are $12 a year.
Members’ creations are displayed in the
Come visit our studio behind the Fabric
& Fiber Club and learn about ceram-
ics, hand building, wheel throwing, and
china painting. Monitors will guide you
on a short tour and tell you about up-
coming classes.
Ceramics: Existing forms, such as
plates, bowls, vases, animals, Christmas
trees and Santa Clauses can be painted
and glazed to your own design.
Hand Building: For those who like to
sculpture from scratch, red or white and
low- or high-fire clays are available. All
supplies are sold at cost to members!
