GOLF
We were really busy in 2014! The Golf
Ambassadors program was started, all
members received a laminated rules/
penalty card for their golf bag, time
tracking cards were implemented to
monitor pace of play, our first Sun Bowl
sponsors were secured, and we provided
treats to the MGA for their Member-
Member Tournament. Our By-Laws
were revised, position responsibilities
for each task force and elected office were
composed and we even established a club
philosophy – to have fun, maintain pace
of play, have fun, know the rules and
have fun!
Sylvia Quillin, our tournament director,
is getting creative. Those in attendance
at January’s general meeting provided
her with the go-ahead to change things
a bit on our play days. Each month there
will be one scramble, one pre-announced
game and two days when players play
their typical game. At the end of the
round, the tournament director will
randomly select a game which will tell
her how to add the scores to determine
who wins sweeps that week. If a pre-
announced game pops up when you
register for a Tuesday round, you can
go to our website and read about that
game. During the meeting it was also
decided we would play from the red tees
at Legacy Hills a couple of times a year.
This will certainly require a change of
club selection and an extra element of
skill and challenge but sure to be fun!
The Sun Bowl committees have been
established and are working hard to
ensure another successful May event.
Our next general meeting will be
March 10 at 11 a.m. at Cowan Creek.
We continue to welcome new members.
Those interested in hearing more about
our group may attend one of the new
resident meetings held each month in the
ballroom or access the WGA 9 website.
