The first of five major MGA tourna-
ments – The SpringMember-Member
- will take place on March 25 and
26. We expect a full field of close to
300 players. Be sure to sign up elec-
tronically through the MGA website,
under Members. Participants regis-
tering as individuals will be paired
with another member by the pro staff.
One of the MGA Board’s primary
goals is to support pace of play for
the 120+ tournaments and Play Days
scheduled for 2015. The objective for
each of these competitive rounds is
to play in 4 hours and 10 minutes
or less.
The key elements to sustaining a suc-
cessful pace of play are as follows:
1. The Player: Focused and ready
to hit his next shot following the
previous player.
2. The Group: Supports one another’s
readiness and works together to
keep the group in position.
3. The MGA: Selects appropriate
games, continues pace of play
emphasis and keeps members in-
formed onways to reduce slow play.
4. The Pro Staff: Works with the
MGA to assemble foursomes,
marshals support, provides event-
appropriate course set-ups and ad-
vises the MGA on ways to improve
pace of play.
While achieving the MGA pace of play
objective can sometimes be affected by
weather and large tournament par-
ticipation, there is no better feeling
in golf than walking off the course
with a good score and playing with a
minimum of wait time. Thank you to
everyone - we appreciate your efforts!
