There are many great things about mov-
ing to Sun City Texas. When we first
arrived, most of us were contacted by a
Neighborhood Representative of the NRO
who greeted us, helped us integrate into
the community, and informed us of the
many opportunities there are for partic-
ipation and pleasure. These dedicated
souls strive tomake it easy for newcomers
to find their way around and delve into
the many activities available to us.
GOLF AMBASSADORS
Three years ago, theGolf Committee elect-
ed to piggyback on that service that the
NRO provides and formed a team of Golf
Ambassadors (GA) who also extend a spe-
cial welcome to new residents interested in
golf and get them quickly up to speed on
all the golf-related activities. This army of
volunteers, usually one per neighborhood,
makes contact with and arranges in-home
visits to a new arrival who indicated an
interest in golf when they completed the
New Neighbor Contact Form. It does not
matter if the person is a seasoned golfer
or someone looking to take up the game.
Golf Ambassadors also help organize
groups of golfers in their neighborhoods.
Golf Ambassadors may also encourage
participation in golf events, such as the
biannual Neighborhood Cup, the Chili
Bowl Cook-off, Nine and Dine, and other
events that occur throughout the year.
Some even go to the extent of recruiting
neighbors to play as a group and then go
to a social event afterward.
In other words, the Golf Ambassador is
the person to contact in your neighbor-
hood for events related to golf. If they
don’t have a ready answer, they will find
it for you.
If you enjoy golf, meeting new folks and
getting together with other people, you
may be interested in volunteering as an
Ambassador. It is not necessary to live
in the neighborhood you are serving, as
long as you are available to help those
in the neighborhood enjoy golf. Contact
Dale Keith at
if
youwould like to participate or want more
information.
ADOPT-A-HOLE
Another armada of volunteers who do
an outstanding job of keeping our golf
courses in such wonderful condition are
those involved in the Adopt-A-Hole group.
The MGA membership now has
grown to more than 580 members.
Of our 580 members, more than
395 have shared in over $42,000 of
prize money. Thanks to our gener-
ous sponsors and the MGA!
Don’t forget that our last two MGA
sponsored tournaments are com-
ing soon. Here are the dates for
our two remaining tournaments
