After almost 30 years
teaching group fitness
and personal training,
I continue to enjoy help-
ing people to succeed
at meeting their health
and fitness goals. In
group fitness classes, I love the energy
of the class participants as well as the
diversity. My teaching philosophy is that
exercise should be appropriate and safe
but also FUN! The social aspect is as im-
portant as the physical. When all of these
factors are combined (along with great
tunes!), people are eager to stick with
the program! In addition to aerobics and
strength classes and personal training,
I also love Pilates! Pilates is for anyone
and everyone! It is adaptable, diverse and
complete; the work provides strengthen-
ing, stretching, postural alignment, bal-
ance, stress release and enhanced body
awareness. Everyday life and function
are improved. It is my goal to incorporate
the wonderful principles of Pilates into all
aspects of fitness as a bonus benefit! I was
born and raised in Texas but have spent
the last 35 years inGeorgetown, Colorado.
I am now looking forward to living and
playing Georgetown, Texas. Traveling,
reading, cooking, playing games, listening
to great music, going to the theatre and
visiting with friends are activities that I
enjoy. Two seven-year-old granddaughters
also bring me great joy!

Julie O’Connor, B.S.,
is AEA Certified, an
Aquatic Specialist and
an active member of
the Aquatic Therapy
and Rehabilitation
Institute with over
20
years of experience. She specializes
in post-rehabilitation. Aquatic personal
training is a safe, healthy and fun way
to bridge the gap between post-rehab and
independent exercise, and encourages the
progression from 1:1 aquatic training to
small group specialty classes and/or the
many group fitness classes offered at Sun
City both in water and on land.
Julie incorporates a specialty aquatic
technique such as Aqua Stretch, Bad Rag-
az, Halliwick, Ai Chi, Aquassage, PNF
and The Burdenko Method. She has also
been a swim instructor for the American
Red Cross and a volunteer assistant swim
coach for USA swimming. Julie believes
that water is a great medium to encourage
proper body mechanics, increase strength
and flexibility, and improve balance, co-
ordination, cardiovascular health and
general overall well-being.
