Subject: Memorial Day Events Sunday & Monday

Memorial Day Concert & Ceremony May 27 & 28 Please join us at the Georgetown-Williamson County Veterans Memorial Plaza to honor the men and women of our armed forces who gave their lives in service to our country and for our freedom. Both events are free and open to the public.  Pre-Memorial Day Evening Concert Sunday, May 27 • 7 p.m.   The 36th Infantry Division Band from Camp Mabry in Austin will present a concert at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 27. The band will perform with a variety of big band sound and patriotic “flag waving” tunes at the Memorial Plaza at Sun City.  _________ Memorial Day Ceremony and Reception Monday, May 28 • 9:30 a.m.   The annual Memorial Day ceremony, honoring the men and women of our armed forces who have given their lives in service to our country, will be held at the Veterans Memorial Plaza on Monday, May 28. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be United States Senator John Cornyn and music will be provided by the 36th Infantry Division Band of the Texas Army National Guard. The program begins with a presentation involving color guards from the East View and Georgetown high schools. The ceremony also includes singing of the national anthem, presentation of wreaths at both Memorial Walls, and sounding of taps. Following the ceremony, the Community Association will serve refreshments on the Social Center patio. _________________ Honor Your Vet with a Brick Honor or memorialize a veteran or honor a unit from any branch of the military by placing an engraved brick at the Williamson County Veterans memorial Plaza. Deadline is June 1 for July installation. How to order a brick >> _________________   Seating Seven-hundred folding chairs will be placed at the Memorial. Guests are also invited to bring folding chair(s) to sit under the trees. In Case of Rain In case of rain, the Memorial Day events will be held in the Social Center Ballroom and seating will be limited to 600 to comply with fire code. If Monday's Ceremony is held indoors, it will be recorded so that residents may watch the program live on Channel 18 or on the website following the event. (www.sctexas.org/videos > Special Videos.
