Friendly Reminders: Leaf Blower Don'tsSubmitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]
Falling leaves are Mother Nature’s way of saying the season is changing and that it's time to pull out our rakes and blowers and keep our yards looking great. Please know, while Mother Nature may blow these around and into the streets and other’s yards, it is not ok for residents to do this. We have received reports of residents blowing leaves into the common areas, streets, storm drains and neighbor’s yards, thus making the leaves someone else’s problem. Not OK. Furthermore, if the City catches you blowing leaves into a storm drain or your neighbor films you doing this, you may face a penalty from the City as this is a violation of City Ordinance. Furthermore, if you live adjacent to the storm drain, you do not want to do anything to clog it up and cause yourself or neighbors any flooding concerns. So, please properly dispose of your leaves and do not make them someone else’s problem. Georgetown Code of Ordinances: Health and Hazard 8, Section 8.20.020 Specific conditions. S. Littering within the confines of the City. It shall also be unlawful to discard or dump litter, trash, products of cutting or trimming of vegetation, appliances, household goods, or any other manner of Refuse upon any premises or property within the City, except for legal disposal at the City’s Waste Collection Station. capture the moments that make our community great! Sun Rays magazine is
looking for motivated volunteer writers and photographers to contribute
to our monthly magazine.
PHOTOGRAPHERS: As a Sun Rays
photographer, you’ll shoot community activities, collaborate with
writers on feature photography and capture Sun City’s largest events.
Because each photographer is unique, we encourage photo volunteers to
stay true to their creative vision. Photographers receive full credit
and retain all rights to their work.
WRITERS: Our writers work
with Sun Rays editors to plan and produce mid- to feature-length
articles based on a monthly schedule. Writers are encouraged to pitch
ideas and keep an ear out for any interesting topics. Though volunteers
are welcome to write in their own style, they should have a solid
command of the English language. All writers receive credit and
recognition for their contributions.
ALL volunteers should be able to work independently and adhere to deadlines.
