Resident Age Verification Survey
Starting Monday, February 13

Federal law requires us to periodically update our records and confirm that at least 80% of the households in Sun City Texas have at least one resident 55 years of age or over. This is necessary to maintain our "55 or over" exemption to the Federal Fair Housing Act, otherwise it would be illegal for Sun City to restrict occupancy primarily to older residents.

To help us satisfy our legal duty to update our records, one member of each household is asked to log into the website and take the one-question survey. You will be prompted to take the survey the first time you log into the website between February 13 and March 31. After one person in the household has answered the survey question to certify that a member of their household is 55 or older, no other members of the household will need to take the survey.

Friendly Reminder:
No Fishing on Golf Course Ponds

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

As we roll into the springtime and folks begin to dust off their fishing gear, this is everyone’s friendly reminder that fishing on any of the golf course ponds is strictly prohibited. This rule is strictly enforced for everyone’s safety and consideration. For reference, Click Here for Sun City Texas fishing pond rules.

imgGolf Course Access:
Golfers only

Please remember that the golf courses are for golfers only. At no time are residents permitted to walk, jog, bike or access the golf courses for any purpose other than to play golf. This is a safety concern and is in the best interest for everyone. Your cooperation is very much appreciated.

2016 Resident Satisfaction Survey Results

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

imgIn October 2016, the Community Association (CA) commissioned Pyle Research Group to conduct our resident satisfaction survey in order to determine resident satisfaction relative to the various programs, products, facilities and services of the CA. Pyle Research Group presented the findings of the Satisfaction Survey at the February 9 Board Workshop and the report is available on the website by logging in and clicking Community Association Info > Documents.

This information will help the Board and management identify areas where the CA is performing well and areas where the CA can make improvements. In fact, the survey has provided a foundation or benchmark in developing an action plan to improve the CA’s services and resident satisfaction in 2017. Overall, 87.2% of residents responding to the survey rated their experience with the general operations of the CA a four or five, using a five-point scale in which one means “Poor” and five means “Outstanding.”

Increase in Phone Scams

Submitted by Bert Witcher, Georgetown Police Department

Georgetown Police are seeing reports of a common phone scam that is increasing recently. A caller phones to convince you he is your grandchild, or in some cases a lawyer or bondsman that your grandchild asked to call you.

The caller explains that they (your grandchild) has been arrested because they were innocently in the wrong place at the wrong time and need you to send money for them to get out of jail on bond. The most popular method of payment is for you to buy ITunes gift cards. The amounts vary from several hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars.

Other common phone scams detected recently involve callers claiming to be computer technicians calling because they detected a virus in your home computer, or a representative of your cell phone carrier thanking you for your business and asking for your information so they can “award” you credit on your next bill as a thank you for being a good customer.

These scams all seek access to your personal information by earning your trust. They all cost money when you fall victim to them. The best advice is to think twice before you act and be skeptical of callers offering to provide services or benefits you didn’t request.
