Friendly Reminders

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

1.  With the political season brewing, and the fact that our rules allow political signs for the presidential election beginning August 10, please remember to respect your neighbors political views and their rights to display signs for their candidate of choice.

2.  Years ago our zip code for Sun City Texas was 78628. From time to time certain websites do not recognize 78633 and if you encounter this problem, you can try entering the old one for it to recognize Georgetown.

3.  Van Accessible Handicap Parking Reminder. Our community parking lots provide for “van accessible” parking spots, meaning we have a required 8-foot wide access aisle next to parking spaces to allow for the lowering of lift equipment for wheelchair accessibility. Normally, this aisle is on the passenger side of the vehicle. Vehicles and motorcycles parking in this extra space can prevent those with lift-equipped vans to be able to enter/exit their vehicle.

If you must use an accessible parking spot, please be courteous to those who need to use the larger and more accessible spaces marked for vans. Their lifts require the extra room to enter and exit the vehicle. According to the Americans with Disabilities Act, parking lots that can house up to 400 spaces must have at least eight handicap parking spaces, with at least one being van accessible. Sun City Texas exceeds this requirement in our lots. Thanks in advance for your cooperation with this important reminder.

Sun City Street Sealant Work Begins

Street resurfacing will begin soon in Sun City. Residents will be notified with door hangers and electronic message boards about the street work. On the day when paving is scheduled on a street, vehicles should not be parked on that street. Driveway access will be limited when paving equipment is on a street. Work will begin each day at 7 a.m. and will be completed by 6 p.m. Drivers should anticipate delays in work areas.

Monday, August 22 – Friday, September 9

Texas Drive (Del Webb Boulevard to Sun City Boulevard)
& Whispering Wind (Del Webb Boulevard to Enchanted Drive)

Observe Posted Speeds
During the chip seal process the speed limit is reduced to 25 mph. Until a road has been swept multiple times to remove loose rock, lower speeds will greatly reduce the chance of flying rock. Traveling at the posted speed limit in construction zones will ensure your safety and the safety of the road maintenance crews. It’s also the law to observe posted speeds and instructions of flaggers in a work area.

For questions about the road work or schedule, contact City of Georgetown Customer Care at (512) 930-3640.
