Warning Siren Testing Days: First Saturday of the Month

Last week in the Communicator we misreported the testing days for the outdoor warning sirens. T
he updated schedule is the first Saturday of every month at 11 a.m. No testing will be conducted during severe weather or if there is a threat of severe weather to avoid causing confusion for residents.

The Georgetown outdoor warning sirens are located throughout the Sun City Texas community. They alert residents who are outside at parks, golf courses, and other outdoor areas to seek shelter. Sirens are activated to warn of tornadoes, severe weather with strong winds, large hail, or a hazardous chemical incident.

If you hear the sirens (other than the scheduled tests), please seek immediate shelter.

These sirens are just one way to stay informed about hazards. Residents are also encouraged to monitor the local news media when severe weather threatens. In addition, residents are encouraged to register their phones to receive emergency alerts from the local 911 center. Sign up at WarnCentralTexas.org. You may register multiple mobile phones or landlines to receive alerts.

Deer Management Report

Submitted by David Hahn, Director of Facilities,
[email protected]

The CA manages the deer population in the community through a deer removal program conducted under the oversight of the CA Wildlife Management Committee and a professional wildlife biologist. Based on the results from the fall deer census and recommendations from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, we removed 250 this year. We used video cameras on a number of sites so we did not have to rely on driving by to see deer under the nets. This allowed us to place some nets in more secluded areas keeping them out of sight from residents. If you have questions about the program, please click below to read more.
