imgIt is Fawning Season

It is springtime and fawns are being born. As always, we advise residents to leave fawns alone. Often fawns appear "orphaned," when in fact they are fine and have been hidden by their mothers. Fawning season lasts about two to three weeks, so let them be unless you feel it is an emergency for the fawn.

Ride-Along with Citizens on Patrol (COPs)

COPS Volunteers provide a noticeable presence throughout Sun City in order to support residents' safety and security. They observe, report, and assist as necessary in situations requiring emergency and non-emergency responses. If you’d like to learn more about COPs, schedule a ride-along on a 2-hour patrol shift with a COPS volunteer by contacting contact Nancy Fronczak at [email protected] with your preferred day of the week and time of day.

Sun City Park New Outdoor Kitchen

imgA beautiful new outdoor kitchen has been completed at the Sun City Park, next to the softball field. This is a wonderful venue for outdoor picnics and gatherings.

Here are some rules for using this new facility:

  • All groups must clean the gas grill after every use and empty trash into the trash bins.
  • All trash and food must be cleaned up from the area.
  • Countertops must be washed off.
  • There is a fee for using this outdoor kitchen:
    • $10 per hour for Residents' private usage.
    • $40 for outside groups.
    • A $200 cleaning fee will be charged for all groups who do not clean the gas grill after each use, remove the trash into bins and clean off countertops and surrounding area.
  • All bookings are secured through Event Services: Cindy Marsac at 512-948-7415 or [email protected].
  • Please let Cindy know if the propane tank is empty so that we can ensure all groups will have propane. The CA will provide the propane.

Please Note:

  1. Parking could be a problem, so the use of golf carts is recommended.
  2. There is no lighting in the area.
  3. There are only two picnic tables and seating is limited, so participants should bring their own tables and chairs as needed.

We ask that all residents adhere to the following rules and stipulations while touring the course:

  • Tour between 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sundays only through the end of June
  • NO Pets Allowed
  • Stay on Cart Paths the entire time that you are on the course
  • NO bicycles
  • Walking is permitted

  • Do not proceed to the back nine holes as they are still open for play

We hope that everyone enjoys seeing the progress made and gets a better understanding of how much work goes into projects of this scale. Thank you from the Golf Staff and enjoy your tours. ______________________________________________

May Watering

Submitted by Carlton Mathis, Common Area & Irrigation Superintendent,
[email protected]

The City allows residents to water only on certain days of the week based on their address. Even addresses are allowed to water on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Odd addresses are allowed to water Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. There is no watering allowed on Monday.

The City of Georgetown is running a rebate program to promote water conservation and controller programming awareness. You can receive a $75 rebate if you have your controller inspected and set to City recommended specifications by a Licensed Irrigator. Rebates are first-come, first-served and will be discontinued once funds are expended. For more information please visit www.GUS.Georgetown.org/water/rebate.

If you choose to irrigate, my recommendation for watering would be for no more than two days per week, and no more than a 75% water budget/seasonal adjust. However, weather forecasters are suggesting the possible return of rain next week, so be ready to turn those controllers off.

For help setting up your controller or for an evaluation of your irrigation system, email the Water Matters Team at [email protected].
