WGA 18-Hole Group

The WGA 18-Hole golfers were sporting
their festive attire and brimming with
holiday cheer when they attended the
2014 year-end luncheon on Tuesday,
December 16 in the Social Center
Ballroom. Our Social Chairperson,
Margo Maddux, and her committee
outdid themselves with decorations and
goodies for everyone at the tables. The
caterers from the Cotton Patch provided
a delicious lunch and Sheila Diller and
Lee Mathews from the Golf Shop were
thanked for their help with our league
for the 2014 season. The club members
also brought many items and monetary
donations to support the Williamson
County Children’s Advocacy Center.
Dr. Kristina Collins, MD, representing
one of our most active sponsors,
Vitalogy Skincare in Georgetown, gave
a wonderful presentation on skin care
for our active golfing ladies. Pictures of
the event will be posted on our website
for your viewing pleasure.
The new Board for the 2015 WGA 18-
Hole Group was introduced and are as
follows: President, Terri Pender; 1st Vice
President, Lee Southworth; 2nd Vice
President and Play Day Director, Maro
Maddux; Secretary, Cindy Hernandez;
and Treasurer, Linda James. The
ladies on the Board bring many years
of experience to the club and look
forward to a competitive, fun, successful
year. New members should contact
Paula Mockenhaupt, our membership
representative, at

for details concerning the club.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday,
February 3, after the Play Day; then,
meetings will be held every other month
on the first Tuesday of that month.
Please refer to our website for the time
and place of the meetings and also for
any upcoming tournaments or socials.
We look forward to a wonderful 2015
season full of good weather and good golf!
Winter will be on its way out soon;
spring is just around the corner. The
bluebonnets will be popping up before
we know it!
End of the year awards were presented
at the Holiday Luncheon and went to:
Geri Daskurdas and Flo Zydowicz for the
fewest putts; Emily Eldridge for the most
birdies; Jane Huffstutler for the most
pars; Paula Elmers for participating in
the most play days and Kathy Sutphin
for being the most improved.
Awards for lowest gross and lowest net
on all three courses, front and back, were
also presented. Low gross was earned
by Susan Myers, Kathy Brandewie,
Margaret Katchel, Leona Luccia,
Ann Hunter, and Sharon Buford. Jan
Bradley, Sylvia Quillen, Elaine Cielo,
Emily Eldridge, Patsy Miller, and Jami
Dewees captured lowest net honors.
Our fabulous, friendly, energetic, hard-
working Donna Betts was surprised
by receiving recognition for both Ms.
Congeniality and Best Sportsmanship!
The “Beach Baby” certificate went to
Nancy Robohn, whose ball always seems
to land in the sand. Elaine Carpenter,
who has no idea how far she can hit,
was given the title of “Slugger.” The
member who keeps everyone in stitches,
thus being named the “Funniest Golfer,”
went to D. Rowe, while Roseanna Rule
was crowned “Ms. Lucky Shot.” Paula
Elmers was named the “Mailman
Golfer” because she plays in the rain,
wind, sleet or snow!
Jane Arnold reported a hole-in-one shot
at White Wing number seven on Sunday,
October 26. Congratulations to the three
gals who achieved this feat in 2014 -
Jane, Roseanna Rule and Mary Tupacz!
Our next meeting will be Wednesday,
February 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Cowan
Creek. We would like to see more
members attend these informative
meetings each month.
