About me
I am a Texan born and reared; a gradu-
ate of Sam Houston State University
with degrees in accounting and econom-
ics. My early career was spent working
for a CPA firm and a major oil compa-
ny in Houston, and, later, in Seattle,
Washington, with the Boeing Company.
Boeing afforded me the opportunity to
return to the Houston area and work on
the Apollo space effort at NASA.
After Boeing, I then spent 30 years in
the Lighting Industry, working in vari-
ous financial capacities, and I retired
in 2002 as Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer.
My wife, Stephanie, and I live in Neigh-
borhood 42, where we have wonderful
friends and great times. We have been
here for over four years—having moved
from Austin—and we just love it. We
have seven children between us and 10
grandchildren, six in the Austin area,
two in the Dallas area, and two in up-
state New York.
How long have you been with
the CA?
I started in May 2010, which coincided
with the opening of the Cowan Creek
Amenity Center. My first part-time po-
sition was set-up specialist arranging
tables and chairs to meet the demands
of events.
What does your job entail?
I am the Events Services Coordinator,
a part-time position that was created
due to the increased demand for use of
CA facilities because of growth of the
community, plus the addition of Cowan
Creek. This position includes many of
the same elements as the set up special-
ist, but with the added responsibility
of contacting clubs and organizations,
getting details of how many tables and
chairs are required, what floor arrange-
ment is preferred, and any audio visual
support that may be needed. I then pre-
pare a computer-generated schematic
for each affair. In addition, I schedule
and coordinate five other part-time set
up specialists.
Challenges about your job?
Every job has its challenges, of course.
The challenge before me is that each
day is ever changing—that’s why I
enjoy what I do!
Favorite part of your job?
The people who we work with in the
clubs and organizations and Sun City.
They are the best, and I love working
with them—they make my job fun.
