2013
Summer Citizens Program is celebrating a 37th An-
niversary. This amazing program provides quality education
opportunities offering 45+ course subjects and activities for
active, life-long learner seniors ages 55 +.
Five cool reasons tomake Logan, Utah, your summer destination:
1.
Climate
-
Logan is unique for its cool mountain-valley
setting and mild climate. Nestled between mountains,
canyon breezes kiss lush landscapes, shady parks border
flowing rivers and streams.
2.
Culture
Theater, opera, music, art festivals, galleries
and fine dining await you after a day of shopping, golf,
classes or recreation. Past meets present in a historical
small town setting with big city diversity, culture and
industry.
3.
Community
When you’re here, you’re family. Summer
Citizens are an integral part of the Logan community
and are welcomed back with open arms each year. You’ll
find friends, fun, plenty to do and people to do it with.
Cache Valley features dozens of churches, clubs, fairs
and markets for interactive social networking and fel-
lowship.
4.
Comfort
Fully furnished housing with modern ame-
nities, accessibility and affordability make your stay a
pleasant and trouble-free experience. You’ll rest easy
knowing Logan is consistently voted one of the nation’s
safest cities, year after year.
5.

lifestyles love the Summer Citizens program because of
our shared commitment to lifelong-learning. Classes,
clinics, and college level courses from Utah State Uni-

Capital Management
What will 2013 bring for income-seeking investors? No one has
it worse than retirees. You know this first-hand if you’ve tried
to reinvest bonds bought five or more years ago. Bond and CD
rates are their lowest in history. Adjusted for inflation, the
yield on ten-year U.S. Treasury bonds is actually negative!
Popular alternatives aren’t much better. Corporate bond yields
are almost as low as for government bonds. With the economy
potentially on the edge of another recession, default risk may
be more than many investors can take.
Seminar topics will include:
Investments yielding 5-11% in today’s low-rate environ-
ment
Tax-advantaged Income vehicles in the energy sector
Yield-generating fixed income opportunities – and the
risks associated with them
Why CDs and government bonds are likely a losing propo-
sition
Dividend-paying stocks as an alternative to bonds
