Sun City Entrance Flag & Flag Holidays

Members of the Veterans Memorial Advisory Group lower and raise the flags at the Welcome Station while Pulte staff does the same for the flags in front of the sales center.

The United States flag should be displayed on all days especially….

  • Inauguration Day – January 20
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – third Monday in January
  • Lincoln ’s Birthday – February 12
  • Washington’s Birthday – third Monday in February
  • Easter Sunday – variable
  • Mother’s Day – second Sunday in May
  • Peace Officers Memorial Day – May 15 (half staff until noon)
  • Armed Forces Day – third Saturday in May
  • Flag Day – June 14
  • Father’s Day – third Sunday in June
  • Independence Day – July 4
  • Korean War Veterans Day – July 27 (half Staff all day)
  • Labor Day – first Monday in September
  • Patriot Day – September 11 (half staff all day)
  • Constitution Day – September 17
  • Gold Star Mother’s Day – last Sunday in September
  • Columbus Day – second Monday in October
  • Navy Day – October 27
  • Election Day – first Tuesday in November
  • Veteran’s Day – November 11
  • Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day – December 7 (half staff all day)
  • Christmas Day – December 25

…such other days as may be proclaimed by the President of the United Stated, the birthdays of States (date of admission); and on State holidays.

Flying the U.S. Flag at half-staff is an honored tradition which is a mark of respect. The National Flag Foundation recommends adhering to the flag code by lowering flags to half-staff on the following days:

  • Peace Officers Memorial Day, May 15, (half-staff all day, 7am-6pm)
  • Memorial Day, last Monday in May, (half-staff, 7am-6pm)
  • Korean Way Veterans Day, July 27, (half-staff all day, 7am-6pm)
  • Patriot Day, September 11, (half-staff all day, 7am-6pm)
  • Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, December 7, (half-staff all day, 7am-6pm)
