Windows Malware Prevention
This section of the Malware Help web portal describes how you can prevent most Malware from infecting your PC. You can either jump right in, and read the section from beginning to end, or select what interests you most. As a minimum, we suggest reading the sections entitled "How does my PC get Malware?" and "What can I do to prevent getting Malware?".

The content in this document is not meant to be an exhaustive study on the subject of Malware on all PCs, both old and new, but is meant to be helpful and educational and is applicable to PC's running Windows 7 or later operating system.
This document does not discuss Smart Devices (tablets, smart phones, etc.) in any way.
It may be helpful to the reader to know which Windows versions are presently supported by Microsoft and will receive security updates. The following versions are supported by Microsoft and continue to get updates, including security updates.
- Windows Vista
- Windows 7
- Windows 8.1
- (Windows 10)
If the reader is using an older version of Windows then it is highly recommended to upgrade to the latest Windows version. Doing so will ensure that the user has the latest security features available, which is becoming more important for security of the PC.
If an upgrade is not feasible due to the age of the PC being used then only some of this document may apply, and it important that the user be extremely diligent (or stay disconnected from the Internet).
