History

In October of 1996 as the Legacy Hills Golf Club was approaching its Grand Opening on November 15 th, Sun City women golfers were called to an organizational meeting at the Park Pavilion.

Danny McCoy of Sun City and Ken Stier, Director of Golf explained how twenty-five or more women could form an organization. He called for volunteers who would be willing to serve as officers of a Women's Golf Association. These volunteers were introduced and voted into an organizational group. This group then met and chose officers to be voted on for these positions. It was recommended that the first term would be from the opening in November 1996 through the end of the fiscal year on the last day of June 1998.

All Sun City women golfers then met again at the Park Pavilion to vote for the volunteers to become officers. They also suggested names for the organization and voted to have it called:

Sun City Georgetown Women's Golf Association ( SCGWGA)

The newly elected officers then met and put together the SCGWGA Constitution and By-Laws which were voted on and accepted.

On June 1, 2000, the organization name was officially changed to:

18-Hole Sun City Texas Women's Golf Association (18-Hole SCTWGA)
