Donation Guidelines
The Sun City Library welcomes your donations.
The following guidelines apply to donations:
- Copyright or the latest printing date is no more than 15 years ago
- Books are in good condition and have the original dust jacket (hardcover) or original cover (paperbacks)
- Magazines should not be older than the previous 2 issues
- DVDs and audio books should be complete and in good condition with original copyrighted disc(s)
NOTE: When donating more than four or five books, please use grocery or similar bags. Large boxes are heavy and very hard for the volunteers to handle. Please, no more than one or two grocery size tote bags donated at a time.
The following items are NOT accepted:
- computer manuals
- encyclopedias
- large sets of books
- large coffee table books
- textbooks, spiral bound or notebooks
- VCR tapes, cassette tapes of any music media
- homemade or pirated recordings
- catalogs, travel brochures, political or religious tracts
- jigsaw puzzles
- Kindles & eBooks
Please know that large donation amounts overwhelm our storage capability.
If the materials donated are in good condition, but we are unable to use them in our library, we make every effort to send them to an organization that can benefit from them rather than sending them to the landfill. In this way, the library performs a needed outreach service to local organizations and charities.
