LibreOffice Introduction

Class Sessions: One, 2-hour class

Course Prerequisites:
Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets and presentation programs.  The course assumes participants do not have any knowledge about LibreOffice.

Participants will derive maximum benefit from the class if they download LibreOffice  to their own computer and bring it to class.  Instructions for an alternative to a participants personal computer will be distributed about one week before class.  The alternative works only with the Windows operating system.  It does not work with Apple.  

Course Description:
This survey course provides a brief history of LibreOffice and its predecessors.  The emphasis is to provide basic instruction on installing the program and an introduction to LibreOffice's three major components – word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.  

Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, you will understand how to:

Install LibreOffice
Customize LibreOffice to meet your needs
Prepare and edit basic word, spreadsheet and presentation files
Convert legacy word, spreadsheet and presentation files to current file formats
