Submitted by the Sun City Texas Community Association

Due to the spike in COVID-19 cases in our city and county, the CA Board of Directors has made the unanimous decision to close all CA indoor amenities through Monday, August 3. This became effective on Wednesday, July 8. This timeline will be reviewed weekly and the community will be updated if the dates for closure need to be extended. All buildings will be locked and no organized events, meetings or classes will be held inside CA indoor amenities during this time. Only limited staff will be allowed into facilities. During the closure, all facilities will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

Residents and outside guests are not allowed to use or enter the following indoor closed amenities now to Monday, August 3:
  • Three Fitness Centers including indoor lap pools
  • Three Golf Shops
  • Social Center, The Retreat, Cowan Creek and the Activities Center
  • Dedicated Indoor Club Space: Billiards, Woodworking shop and Arts and Craft Centers

Golf Courses and ranges will remain open
and will continue to follow their current procedures.
Why do I need to say whether I’m playing 18 holes or 9 holes on my request?

It is important that when you are making a request in Chelsea that you declare whether you are playing 18 holes or 9 holes. With the return of the Monday closed course rotation, we have made an adjustment to the tee sheets. Instead of the open courses being Single Tees, they are now Modified Double Tees. This is an effort to prevent tee times stretching into the late afternoon, like we saw last Monday, July 6. This configuration will allow us to have both 9 hole and 18 hole play maximized in the morning. This only works if players, when making their request, declare the number of holes they intend to play properly in the system. Don’t miss out on early tee times by not declaring properly. Below is an example of how the tee sheet is configured.

ONLY ON MONDAYS WHEN A COURSE IS CLOSED

Starting on Tee #10
7 a.m. – 8:20 a.m.
9 HOLE PLAY ONLY

Starting on Tee #1
7 a.m. – Remainder of the day
18 HOLE PLAY ONLY during placement of the requests, then opened to both 9 hole and 18 hole play

If you have any questions please feel free to contact the golf shop or management staff. Play well, stay safe and thank you!
Taking precautions is everyone's job . . .

If you are feeling ill or if there may be a chance that you may have been exposed to COVID-19, please take the necessary actions including self-quarantine.  In order to be considerate to your fellow Sun City residents, you are encouraged to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and hand sanitizing.

Ball Retrievers
Great new selection now available of designer purses and accessories such as umbrellas and ball retrievers at Legacy Hills. We’re also excited to announce the addition of the Orange Whip training aid!

The Orange Whip Trainer is a great training aid that allows you to feel if your swing is actually in rhythm and balance. Providing a low impact workout, the Orange Whip Trainer will increase your flexibility and strengthen your golf muscles. Ask any Tour Player or Golf Instructor and they will tell you it's the perfect warm up tool because it properly stretches your golf muscles while perfecting tempo and balance.

Due to the rise in COVID-19 numbers in our area we’ve had to shut our doors for the time being. However, everything you need is still a mile away. To make purchases contact Sheila Diller at [email protected] or call 512-948-7564.

Golf Course Maintenance (GCM)

We want to express our appreciation for adhering to the rules to limit cart traffic on the courses. The courses are holding up well to the increase in rounds as we enter the summer months. This is in large part due to you, the players, doing everything you can to limit cart traffic and observing golf course etiquette by repairing divots and the like.

We’d also like to thank the ever vigilant Adopt-A-Hole volunteers. In the picture below you can see the level of dedication and pride that is being taken in every step left behind by this Adopt-A-Hole volunteer. Thank you again for taking your time to help us maintain your facilities.
