Golf Course Maintenance (GCM)

We want to express our appreciation for adhering to the rules to limit cart traffic on the courses. The courses are holding up well to the increase in rounds as we enter the summer months. This is in large part due to you, the players, doing everything you can to limit cart traffic and observing golf course etiquette by repairing divots and the like.

We’d also like to thank the ever vigilant Adopt-A-Hole volunteers. In the picture below you can see the level of dedication and pride that is being taken in every step left behind by this Adopt-A-Hole volunteer. Thank you again for taking your time to help us maintain your facilities.
Emergencies on the Golf Course

This past week we had an incident on the golf course and luckily the individual is doing fine. We want to ensure the safest possible environment we can when you’re on the golf courses, so please keep the following notes in mind to help you handle situations that may arise when on the golf course or in life in general.

  • First Step – In an emergency on the golf course call 911 and ask a playing partner to contact the golf shop if possible.
  • Access the Area – Ensure that the area is safe before giving assistance to prevent injury to yourself and potentially removing the only person there to provide assistance.
  • Moving an injured person – When in doubt ask the 911 operator. There are potential danger when assisting an injured person to sit up or stand up after an incident. It’s best to let the injured person get up on their own or leave them where they are and let EMS assess the situation.
  • Maintaining Communication It’s important to maintain communication with 911 to ensure they are headed to the correct location for the patient and so they can provide you assistance until EMS gets there.
Quick Tips for Golfing in Summer Heat
by Josh Peterson
Texas summers can be unforgivably blistering. That’s the truth, but golfers still like playing in all four seasons. Here are some tips for golfing in the heat.
  • Wear a hat, and it will keep the sun off your face and neck.
  • Sunscreen lives up to its name. Use it.
  • Wear light colors and breathable clothing. Dark colors absorb heat. Labor Day isn’t until September, so it isn’t yet unfashionable to wear white.
  • Keep hydrated. Good hydration is essential for regulating body temperature. It promotes cardiovascular health and helps prevent muscle fatigue.
  • Avoid alcohol before prolonged exposure to the sun. Alcohol dehydrates.
Tee Placement and Who Controls Them

We’ve seen some tee markers being moved to different tee boxes around the courses following morning course setup. Please do not touch or move tee markers for any reason. This is becoming problematic for individual and league play regarding handicapping purposes. Only golf course staff should be moving or touching objects on the golf courses. If you have concerns on the tee locations please send an email to the staff and we will take a look for you. Thank you.
