 Course Maintenance News
There is a new POA pre/post emergent product coming to the market in April of 2020. This is huge for us as grass farmers because there hasn’t been a new product come to market in many years. The plant builds up a resistance to the chemical after an extended amount of time and new chemistry is essential to keep POA off our courses.

The weather is prime for disease on our putting greens this week. Warm, humid, and wet is the perfect storm. All three courses have their preventative fungicides applied.

We will be trying a different chemical on greens to kill the POA. It will force the Bermuda back into dormancy but we assure you it will not affect the turf’s overall health. It has been successful for a few courses in our area so we hope to see the same results.

Once bids are in we can continue formulating a plan for the Renovation work at Legacy Hills, which is planned to begin in June.
 Facebook Update
Attention Sun City Texas golfers! We will soon be merging all 3 of our golf course Facebook pages & Twitter accounts under one “Sun City Texas Golf Clubs” account. This will be complete by this Friday, January 24th, and we’ll be sending out reminders to follow the correct accounts over the coming days. Our team is excited for this change – be sure to stay tuned for more updates!
 Sweet Shots - New Procedure

Beginning February 1st, there will no longer be a hard copy version of Sweet Shots. Instead, any Sweet Shot will need to be logged through the Sun City Website, www.sctexas.org:

  • Login to the website using your credentials.
  • Click on Golf at the top of the page.
  • On the right side of the screen, click on “Sweet Shot Entry."
  • Fill in the required information.
  • Click on "Send Request" at the bottom of the form.
Attention: Frost Delays

Now that we are knee deep in winter, frost delays are becoming a more common occurrence. It is suggested that golfers check the weather on a daily basis to see if the forecast calls for low temperatures in the 30's. When this happens, there is a good chance of frost and golfers should plan for a frost delay. It won't always happen, but this should help prevent a surprise delay. Golfers should also take advantage of the Course Condition Line for each course to determine any delay.

  • Legacy Hills – 512-948-7560, option 1
  • White Wing – 512-948-7570, option 1
  • Cowan Creek – 512-948-7580, option 1

Also, please note when temperatures indicate that frost is possible, we will block an appropriate number of tee times to help prevent an actual delay. By doing this, we can avoid having to push tee times back and it makes it much easier to communicate in a timely manner.

Please remember that once tee times begin after a delay, we are constantly making up time so golfers should not expect the indicated delay to last all day.
 World Handicap System (WHS)

As of Monday, January 6th, the new World Handicap System is up and running, but unfortunately we are having to work through some glitches. For the first few scores you enter, it is recommended that you do so at one of the golf shops to get familiar with the new posting situation. This will be a learning process for both golfers and staff and this will allow us to work through these “bugs” in a timely manner.

If you want to cancel this handicap service, you will need to stop by the Legacy Hills Golf Shop and complete a cancellation form. Verbal cancellations will NOT be accepted.

For anyone new to Sun City that has a handicap at another club, we are able to transfer your GHIN number into our new WHS system which keeps all of your history and the same GHIN number. If you’d like to do this, please contact Erik or Sheila at
Legacy Hills. Also, be sure to have your GHIN number to provide.

If you have ANY GHIN questions, please call Erik (948-7563) or Sheila (948-7564).

Please note that 2020 GHIN fees are included on your December 2019 statement and should be paid through the CA office.

Super Bowl Scramble

Super Bowl Sunday is just around the corner! We will be kicking off Super Sunday with the 2020 Super Bowl Scramble on Sunday, February 2. This event will be a 4 person scramble beginning at 8:30 a.m. at White Wing and will be followed by lunch on the Mulligan's patio.

Please Click Here for the official registration form that should be returned to the White Wing Golf Shop by Wednesday, January 29th.

Adopt-A-Hole Volunteers

Adopt-A-Hole is an all volunteer program open to all residents of Sun City Texas.

Adopt-A-Hole teams supplement the work of Golf Course Maintenance staff by periodically working "adopted" golf holes by sanding divots, repairing ball marks on greens, cleaning tees of broken tees, moving golf cart control ropes, reporting course condition items in need to attention, etc.

Adopt-A-Hole teams set their own schedules and there are no reporting requirements.

If interested please contact Clay Stubbins at [email protected].
Golf Cart
Registration Stickers

We ask that every golf cart have an ID sticker. These stickers are free and you can get them at the Member Services Office or any golf shop. It’s a simple process. All that is needed is a sticker affixed at the bottom/middle of your windshield. This important item allows us to identify who you are in the event of an emergency.
