Monitor Training:

On Friday, January 10th at 3:00 PM we had our first Monitor Training session of 2020.  It was also the first trial session of our new policy to hold regularly scheduled monthly training sessions.  The Meetings calendar on our website will soon display the event time and place which is the second Friday of the month at 3:00 PM in the ANNEX.  Note the change in location.  After instruction in the Annex, we will also tour the Lab and explain the various uses of equipment.  The session generally lasts between thirty and sixty minutes, depending on the number of people attending and the amount of questions asked.  If you would like to attend for a refresher course, or as a potential new monitor, please email me your intention and I will send you a copy of our Monitor Resource Guide to be read as preparation for the training session.

Media Conversion Review:

The Media Conversion Project is explained thoroughly on the Club website.  Please review the information.  A brief synopsis follows:

Media types that can be converted include:  35mm slides, 8mm movie film, VHS tapes, photo, and audio which includes several tape and record formats.  They can be converted to various types of digital formats, i. e., USB, DVD or CD formats.

Specialized training workshops are provided for 35mm Slides. 8mm film, and Audio Conversion.  Instruction Guides for VHS tapes, and Photo conversion are self-led and can be found next to the equipment in the Lab.

To sign up for one of the three workshop or to schedule a session to use any of the equipment, go to the Computer Club website after logging into the CA website.  All media conversion information is listed in the left pane under “Media Conversion”.  Workshops are free for club members.
