Attention: Frost Delays

Now that we are knee deep in winter, frost delays are becoming a more common occurrence. It is suggested that golfers check the weather on a daily basis to see if the forecast calls for low temperatures in the 30's. When this happens, there is a good chance of frost and golfers should plan for a frost delay. It won't always happen, but this should help prevent a surprise delay. Golfers should also take advantage of the Course Condition Line for each course to determine any delay.

  • Legacy Hills – 512-948-7560, option 1
  • White Wing – 512-948-7570, option 1
  • Cowan Creek – 512-948-7580, option 1

Also, please note that, when temperatures indicate that frost is possible, we will block an appropriate number of tee times to help prevent an actual delay. By doing this, we can avoid having to push tee times back and it makes it much easier to communicate in a timely manner.

Please remember that, once tee times begin after a delay, we are constantly making up time so golfers should not expect the indicated delay to last all day.

World Handicap System (WHS)

The new World Handicap System (WHS) is now live! The golf shop kiosks have been setup and are ready for posting any and all scores you may have accumulated during the first part of 2020.

For those that prefer to post at home online, you will still go to http://www.ghin.com. It has a new look but effectively operates similar to the old system as it still requires your GHIN/WHS number and last name. No, your "GHIN" number did not change. For those that like to post scores using the mobile app, the app is still the same, you simply have to run an update for the app and it will automatically update to the new platform.

Due to a modification in how handicap indexes are calculated, your new handicap may be slightly different.

Any questions, feel free to contact Erik Beyer, [email protected] or stop by the Legacy Hills Golf Shop.

2020 Chili Bowl

January is here and with the New Year comes the Annual Chili Bowl Golf Tournament and Chili Cook-off! The event will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun at Cowan Creek which includes a 2-person scramble. Based on the composition of teams, we will have men’s flights, women’s flight(s) and mixed flights.

Chili Cook-Off
The event will be followed by a Chili Cook-Off lunch in the Georgetown/Florence Room and we encourage all of our chili cooks who are interested to bring their best chili to be judged by some outlaws! As a thank you to those who bring chili, there will be a gift for all of our cooks. This will be in addition to a nice little prize for the best pots of chili!

Click here for the entry form. Entry forms need to be returned to the Cowan Creek Golf Shop by Sunday, Jan. 19.

Adopt-A-Hole Volunteers

Adopt-A-Hole is an all volunteer program open to all residents of Sun City Texas.

Adopt-A-Hole teams supplement the work of Golf Course Maintenance staff by periodically working "adopted" golf holes by sanding divots, repairing ball marks on greens, cleaning tees of broken tees, moving golf cart control ropes, reporting course condition items in need to attention, etc.

Adopt-A-Hole teams set their own schedules and there are no reporting requirements.
