Enjoy Your Outing
Know Your Limits
Our Volunteer Trip Leaders are always striving to make your Sun City Day Trips interesting and fun. They put a lot of thought into the trips, so we would like to explain the Trip Levels assigned to each outing. It is very important to us to provide you with information that will enable you to not only select trips that are best-suited to your interests, but that also address your safety, comfort and mobility issues.
Level 1 - Easy Going: Trips involve light activity – few stairs, close venues, 1-2 times on and off the bus. Example: A trip into Austin for dinner and a show at The Long Center .
Level 2 - On Your Feet: Trips involve moderate activity – stairs, walking several blocks, standing, 2-3 times re-boarding the bus. Example: Esters Follies, Fredericksburg Theater, Bob Bullock History Museum.
Level 3 - Keep the Pace: Trips are faster paced and involve multiple venues, stairs, uneven walking surfaces, numerous times re-boarding the bus, and also any trips requiring 2+ hours travel time one way. Example: San Antonio Theater, State Fair of Texas, A & M Veterinary School, Painted Churches, Austin Riverboat Cruise.
Level 4 – Challenging: Trips require specific physical abilities and possibly a signed release form from the venue in order to attend or participate. Multi-day (overnight) trips. Example: River Tubing, I-Fly, Zip Line, Texas Independence Trail (3 day).
Please take into consideration your abilities, limitations and comfort level as you use this guide to help you choose the perfect trip. These levels are posted with each bus trip online or in the Sun Rays. Feel free to contact the outing’s Volunteer Trip Leader before you purchase a ticket if you need more information. Be assured your Volunteer Trip Leaders like nothing better than to see you enjoy their trips!
