Firewise Town Hall
Wildfires & Sun City Homes:
Perceptions and Reality

Tuesday, Oct. 8 9:30 a.m.
Social Center Ballroom

What is your perception of why structures burn from wildfires? Research shows that embers from nearby wildfires are the major cause of home fires. Is your home vulnerable?

At our Town Hall, we will examine the behavior of wildfires to reach a better understanding of their ignition and prevention. We will also review home construction and landscaping which may increase the probability of home fires. Joining us will be the Georgetown Fire Department discussing how to escape your home in case of a fire. Texas A&M Forest Service will also be there providing an update of the Firewise program in Texas.

Drought and wildfires will always be a concern in Central Texas. Even though our local lakes are full, Sun City and Williamson County are still under extreme drought conditions. Come and see if your wildfire perceptions align with reality. And enjoy a donut with some coffee while doing it!
