Golf Cart ID Stickers

We ask that every golf cart have an ID sticker. These stickers are free and you can get them at the Member Services Office or any golf shop.

It’s a simple process. All that is needed is a sticker affixed at the bottom/middle of your windshield. This is an important item which allows us to identify who you are in the event of an emergency.
Friendly Reminders:
Dispose of Doggie Bags Properly
Do Not Discard in Storm Drains
Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

Sadly, some residents are discarding their full doggie poop bags into the storm drains and drainage culverts.

Storm drains go directly to our source of drinking water!

Please do not do this. Not only is it nasty, but it is disrespectful to your community, neighbors and to Mother Nature.

Please note that pet waste in our storm drain system contributes to increased bacteria and ultimately algae growth, reducing oxygen and depleting fish habitat and overall water quality of our drinking sources. Aside from being irresponsible, putting anything other than stormwater into our system is prohibited by ordinance and enforceable by fine and municipal court action. For additional information or to report illegal dumping activities citizens can call 512-930-3640.

Behind the Brick: Tell Us Your Story
You’ve probably seen the many bricks which fill the Veterans Memorial Plaza. Since its dedication in 2003, over 4,300 bricks honoring our servicemen and women have been placed within this plaza. But with room for only 48 letters, numbers and spaces, the words on these bricks can only tell a fraction of the honorees’ stories - Sun Rays would like to tell the rest.
If you have ever purchased or been honored by a brick, tell us the story behind the name, unit, ship or organization inscribed. Stories will be featured Sun Rays’ “Behind the Brick” series. Submissions should be no more than 500 words each and photographs are HIGHLY encouraged. Sun Rays will be happy to document awards, medals and other ephemera upon request. Please send your stories to [email protected] by Thursday, August 1, to be featured in 2019. All questions can be directed to Jaime Calder at 512-948-7745.

SAFETY REMINDER FOR TRAILS
Sun City Texas Trails
Close at Sunset

While we are very fortunate to have such wonderful natural areas for our nature trails, we also understand that we must share these areas with the existing wildlife and be aware that we may encounter them while out on the trails.

Remember, trails are wildlife areas and everyone needs to take proper precautions and enter at their own risk. Dogs may increase the risk of an encounter as coyotes see them as a direct threat. Dogs must be on a leash at all times for their safety and the safety of others.

ALL TRAILS ARE CLOSED AFTER SUNSET NO EXCEPTIONS

What do I do with my old Directory?

Don't recycle
Don't throw it away
Political Sign Policy Change
Submitted by Carl Zimmerman, Community Standards Director, [email protected]

The Board of Directors recently approved a change to the community’s Political Sign Policy. Previously, the policy limited residents to displaying only one sign for a candidate for an office or for a measure on the ballot for an election. The policy now allows households that have a difference of opinion on which candidates or ballot measures should be supported during an election to have separate displays of signs on the residents’ lot.  The signs remain limited to a maximum size of 4-feet by 6-feet, a total of 24 square feet, and prohibits signs taller than 6-feet.
Native Area Mowing
Submitted by Carlton Mathis, Common Area & Irrigation Superintendent,

We’re hoping to have the Phase 1 mowing completed by the end of next week and transition into the second phase.

Remember to fully fill the yellow bags before recycling.

Health Risks of Swimming in Rivers & Lakes

While places along the San Gabriel River like Blue Hole, as well as Lake Georgetown, are popular summertime destinations, those using these natural water bodies should be aware of potential risks. Stormwater runoff flowing into our rivers and lakes often contains bacteria and other organisms, especially after rainfall.

During the summer months, warmer temperatures can lead to higher levels of bacteria in our rivers, streams, and in Lake Georgetown. Some of the highest levels of bacteria and other organisms can be found in areas where the river current slows or pools due to natural barriers or dams. Slow-moving water combined with higher temperatures can allow organisms to multiply in the water.

Swallowing natural water while swimming or diving or exposing cuts or open eyes to natural water can lead to a variety of illnesses or skin conditions. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has more information about how to avoid recreational water illnesses: cdc.gov/healthywater/swimming/swimmers/rwi.html.

If you have questions about health-related problems which you suspect may be the result of recreation in natural waters, or you would like more information, contact the Williamson County and Cities Health District at www.wcchd.org or call 512-943-3660.
